X-Mid 1 Solid - is a variation of the X-Mid 1, designed specifically for colder environments, including winter camping and trekking in windy regions like Northern Europe and Patagonia. Despite its specialization, it remains an outstanding all-purpose backpacking tent.

Weighing only 890 grams (31.4 oz), this trekking pole shelter is remarkably stormworthy, user-friendly, and spacious. X-Mid 1 has become one of the most awarded tents. It has earned numerous accolades, including best tent awards from The Trek, Outdoor GearLab, and Section Hiker.

The main difference between the X-Mid 1 and the X-Mid 1 Solid is that the Solid version replaces most of the inner mesh with a 15D woven fabric. This solid fabric is used on the roof to prevent condensation from being knocked off by high winds, and on the walls to block drafts and splatter. Mesh remains on the upper half of the doors to allow for airflow and visibility.

With a rectangular floor and offset dual-pole structure, the X-Mid 1 Solid uses trekking poles or Durston Z-Flick Tent Poles for setup, making it lightweight at 890 grams and easy to adjust. Made from durable Silpoly (silicone-coated polyester), it resists water and UV damage without sagging when wet.

The tent’s floor measures 236 cm by 84 cm, providing ample space for one person and their gear, with a peak height of 119 cm for comfortable sitting. It includes two large vestibules for gear storage and two doors for convenient access and ventilation. Multiple vents and a mesh inner tent reduce condensation and improve airflow.

The X-Mid 1 Solid offers excellent rain protection with a waterproof rating around 3500 mm for the fly. Its dual-pole structure and low-profile design enhance stability in windy conditions. Versatile in setup, it can be configured as a minimalist shelter or with full insect protection. When packed, it is compact and easy to carry.

Additionally, the X-Mid 1 Solid is modified for windier conditions with premium low-stretch guylines, buckles on the fly zippers, and extra reinforcement at the optional hem stake-out points. The color of the X-Mid 1 Solid canopy is a darker green known as Alpine Sage.

Use Groundsheet from Durston to give extra protection and a cleaner floor for your X-Mid tent.

Package includes tent with stuff sack.
Stakes (sold separately) and poles are not included. X-Mid 1 Solid use two adjustable trekking poles to set up or Z-Flick tent poles (sold separately).

WEIGHT

Typical Setup (Tent, Sack, 6 Stakes): 980 g / 34.5 oz

Fly: 530 g / 18.7 oz
Inner Tent: 360 g / 12.7 oz
Complete Tent: 890 g / 31.4 oz
Stuff Sack: 12 g / 0.4 oz
Stakes: 8 DAC J Stakes (4 x 6" @ 7 g; 4 x 8" @ 16 g)

Optimal Geometry Patented X-Mid geometry with offset poles provides excellent stormworthiness and ease of pitching for less weight than any other geometry.
Spacious The diagonal (offset pole) ridgeline increases headroom and interior volume over other dual pole shelters.
Non Sag Fabric The X-Mid has been a pioneer of lightweight polyester fabric. Polyester doesn't absorb water and sag like nylon, so the shelter retains its structural integrity in wet conditions. Our passionate advocacy for polyester was initially met with resistance from many established companies using nylon, but has since led to polyester becoming widely recognized as a superior material and with many competitors now following our lead.
Stormworthy Shape The X-Mid shape is an ideal all around shape for stormworthiness (balancing wind and snow shedding). It does this via consistently moderate panel slopes where all the panels are an ideal 50 - 55 degrees, while most tents contain an inconsistent mix of shallower panels (worse for snow shedding) and steeper panels (worse for wind performance).
Dual Vestibules  The dual vestibules are large, tall and put the main area beside the door instead of blocking it. A backpack fits easily in the main area.
Dual Doorways  The dual doorways are large, not blocked by trekking poles, allow for cross ventilation, and have a protected design so the inner stays dry when the doors are open.
Dual Vents   Dual adjustable peak vents minimize condensation yet can close during harsh conditions.
Dual Pockets  Dual interior peak pockets allow for storage and provide a convenient way to suspend a headlamp for reading in the tent.
Full Coverage Fly  A full coverage fly extends low to the ground to block drafts and rain splatter, but can also be raised higher for increased ventilation.
Optional Guyouts Optional peak and side panel guyouts plus eight additional stake points around the base allow the shelter to be solidly reinforced for harsh conditions.
Protected Setup  A protected setup pitches fly first to keep the floor and inner tent dry during setup in the rain. The inner tent can be added later or kept clipped inside the fly.
Doublewall  A full doublewall design with separate fly and inner components avoids potential contact with fly condensation and allows for modular use, including pitching the inner only in fair weather and using the fly as a tarp shelter for 1 or 2 occupants (ideal for ski touring).
Simple Pitch  Ultra-simple pitch with just four stakes. The inner tent can be added separately or left clipped inside for a quicker setup.
Magnetic Door Toggle  Magnetic toggles allow the fly and interior doors to be closed easily with one hand.
Collapsible Vestibules Vestibules can be collapsed to fit the tent into small sites.
Small Packed Size With light fabrics and no tent poles or struts, the X-Mid packs very small and into any shape. We supply a stuff sack that makes the tent short enough to store horizontally in any pack.
Fully Waterproofed Seams Unlike many trekking pole shelters, our seams are factory waterproofed so user seam sealing is not required. We use a mix of seam taping and proprietary waterproof seam technology.

I’ve never loved a bar of soap so much.
Scent: Unscented
For starters, I suffer with severe sensitive skin, Eczema (which also has a huge gut health component) - however I’ve been struggling pretty bad the last few months. In my search to find more natural and nontoxic options, I stumbled upon castile soap - I’ve been using it to wash my dishes, clothes, skin. Finding out that the alkalinity of the soap can destroy sensitive skin barriers (even with diluting). I think it is been the leading cause of my skin dryness. (Despite lathering up with things like organic Shea butter and castor oil). I was getting very frustrated and very stressed and I found this family owned company. I’ve always wanted to try more tallow products, and know how amazing honey and castor oil is for health and rejuvenation (inside and out). I figured what the heck this is a pretty decent price. When I say I do not want to stop using the bar so I mean it like it is now becoming a struggle for me to get out of the shower because I want to keep blathering up because it feels so good. As a bartender and someone who hates having dirty hands - I really hate washing my hands, despite how much I feel obligated to do it. I’m contemplating bringing a bar of soap With me wherever I go so that I have good soap to use 😆. I’m about to buy some from my mom and try other products. I will update if my skin issues have subsided (in a month or so I reckon). I am getting an Eczema patch on my stomach/torso area, my inner thigh to my knee, and back of legs as well. As well as for the last month despite how much dry skin I take off my face, And how much castor oil I rub in - even with a moist appearing face - the flaky skin pokes through. I immediately felt soft skin upon using this product on my face. Normally, I would test out a small area, but with only a few ingredients I was like screw it. I ran out of soap and it’s either that or using watered down castile. Please give this a try. I cannot attest for the scented versions. Also, I saw someone say that it burned their eyes? Castile burns my eyes - this, does not. (And I probably scrub my eyes harder than I should post makeup remover - which is a balm - and just on the eyes).

Great first impression!
Scent: Unscented
This soap was delivered last night, so I used it first thing this morning. So far, I am very satisfied. It has almost no odor—which I like. It created a good lather and left my face and body feeling soft and clean, but not dry. The natural ingredients mean it’s actually good for my skin! It seems to be a great value. The only improvement I can suggest is to make the edges a little softer (more rounded) because it’s quite square to be rubbing my underarms (and other delicate areas). If new details are warranted, I’ll edit this review
